James Bingham, the son of William Jarvis Bingham and Naomi (Browning) Bingham, was born on 21 Apr 1882 in Somercotes, Derbyshire, England. He was baptised on 10 Feb 1889 aged 8 at St. Martins Church, Alfreton, Derbyshire along with three sisters and one brother.
In the 1891 census he was a scholar aged 8 years old. By the 1901 census James, his father and younger sister Gertrude were lodging with another family and James was now a miner aged 18.
James' father died three years later and I suspect it was then that James enlisted in the British Army in the Royal Field Artillery and by the time of the 1911 census James was now a bombadier and serving in the 12th Battery of the Royal Field Artillery in Ambala, Punjab, India.
I cannot trace him after that. He may have died in World War One.
