Mark David Binkowski, loving husband and father, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at the age of 70. Mark was born on March 2, 1950, in Buffalo, NY, to Sigmund and Etta (Wood) Binkowski. After serving in the US Navy from 1970 to 1974, Mark earned a business degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked mainly as an accountant in different capacities for Triangle Steel, Inc. and Park Communications in Ithaca, NY, and finally as a business analyst for Fazoli’s Restaurants in Lexington, KY.
Mark leaves behind his wife of 39 1/2 years, Ruth (Van Engen) and two daughters, Megan (Ben) Wells, and Kristen Binkowski, all of Lexington. He is also survived by a brother, Steve (Jan) Binkowski, and a nephew, Nick Binkowski, all of Buffalo, NY.
Mark was a member of Tate’s Creek Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he served as deacon, bookkeeper, and sound system operator. He was a major sports fan and enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, and keeping in touch with his buddies from his days in the Navy. He was known and loved for his wit and humor.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church, 3900 Rapid Run Drive, in Lexington.
