Capt. John Binney, of Hull, Mass., in 1678 or 1679, fisherman, gentleman, was the ancestor of almost all of the name in America. He married Mercy ___ before 1682.[1]
He died in Hull 10 Nov 1698, intestate. Mercy, relict of John Binney, died in Hull, 19 Jan 1708/9.[2] John Binney was buried in the Hull Village Cemetery. [3] A photo of his gravestone is available at Find A Grave: Memorial #81915070.
John, b. 31 May prob. 1678, deacon of the Hull church; m1. Hannah Paine; m2. Sarah Crosby.
Samuel, b. prob. 1679 or 1680; m. Rebecca Vickers or Vickere.
Mercy, b. 15 Dec 1682 at Hull[5]; m. Nath. Baker 1704; removed to Barnstable 1705.
Isaac b. 25 Jun 1685 at Hull[6]; lost at sea 1707; was sea captain.
Thomas b. 3 Feb 1687 at Hull[7]; m. Margaret Miller.
Elizabeth b. 3 Dec 1690 at Hull[8]; m. George Vickers Jr. 12 Dec 1710.
John and Samuel were known to be children of John: Samuel, at death is described as "son of John and Mercy," and John in a deposition of 1710, speaks of "his brother Isaac;" and John, when married in Eastham, is described as "John Binney, Junior, of Hull."[9]
