Biography
Joseph Binns was born on 19 July 1830 in Worcestershire, England.[1] He had a brother Samuel.[2] He was the son of Joseph and Ann Binns.[3]
In 1851, Joseph Binns lived in Lye, Worcestershire, England, with his parents, Joseph and Ann Bins, and three siblings. Two other Binns, both young children, were shown as visitors. Joseph was a chain maker, as was brother Samuel. Father Joseph was a nail factor. All were born in Lye.[3]
Joseph married Lucy Ganden. They had at least the following children:

- Franklin Binns, b. ca. 1863 England
- Fredrick Binns, b, ca. 1866 England

- Herbert E. Binns, b. ca. 1873 b. Kansas
- Richard Binns, b. ca. 1876 b. Kansas
In 1880, Joseph Binns lived in Ottawa Township, Ottawa, Kansas, with his wife Lucy and 9 children. The first 6 children were born in England, while the 3 youngest were born in Kansas. Joseph was a farmer. The Samuel Binns family was enumerated immediately above Joseph's and the Emanuel Binns family immediately below. Based on the places of birth of their children, Joseph and Lucy came to the United States in about 1869.[4]
In 1900, Joseph "Binars", a widower, lived in Severy City, Twin Groves Township, Greenwood, Kansas, with three children. Josh was a capitalist, while son Herbert was a farmer. Joseph and daughter Allice both came to the United States in 1869. Although Etta is shows as a daughter, she was born in Missouri, as were both of her parents, and it appears the "Ad" has been erased from in front of the word daughter.[5]
In 1906, Joseph Binns, a widower, lived in Sub-District 24, Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada, with three children. The family came to Canada in 1906.[6]
In 1911, Joseph Binns lived in Prince Albert Sub-Districts 23, Saskatchewan, Canada, with two children, Fred and Alice, and three grandchildren. Both Joseph and Fred are widowed and are farmers.[7]
Joseph died on 20 Oct 1912[2] at Tisdale, Melfort Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada, and is buried at the Baxter Springs Cemetery, Section K2, Baxter Springs, Cherokee, Kansas.[1]
