Daily News (Perth, WA : 1882 - 1955), Wednesday 20 August 1913, page 5 MAINLY ABOUT PEOPLE ('FRANZISKA,') The friends of Lewis Birch, formerly a pupil of Scotch College, will be glad to learn that he has successfully passed the final examination for the first year's course In the City Guilds College, London, where he Is studying general engineering.

Daily News (Perth, WA : 1882 - 1955), Tuesday 19 August 1919, page 3 Mainly About People. ('FRANZISKA.') Mrs. Birch-Hine, of Thomas-street, has received a cable from her son, Sergt Lewis Birch, of the Royal Air Force, saying he is returning by the Ceramic. He has been four and a half years on active service in the Mediterranean and North Sea. Prior to the outbreak of the war he was studying engineering in London, and was formerly a student at the Scotch College, Claremont.

Birch-Hine, Bolderwood, Thomas-street, and Miss Chloris Muriel Johns, youngest daughter of Mrs. A. Johns, of Perth (at present in Melbourne).

Sunday Times (Perth, WA : 1902 - 1954), Sunday 27 June 1920, page 6 Quite one of the smartest weddings of late was that of Miss Chloris Muriel Johns, only daughter of Mrs. Johns, of South Perth, to Mr. Lewis Edmund Birch, son of the late Mr. Birch and Mrs. J. Hine, which took place on Saturday, June 19, at St Mary's, West Perth. The bride, who was given away by her brother, was gowned in ivory Charmeuse, embroidered with seed pearls, the train being of white georgette enriched with pearls and silk roses. A Juliet cap of pearls was also worn. Mrs. Senior was dame of honor, and wore a frock of butter-cup charmeuse relieved with jade green. Mr. Deague carried out the duties of best man. A reception was held in St Mary's Hall, where many friends foregathered to wish the young couple the best of happiness. Mrs. Johns, the mother of the bride, who wore a black frock richly trimmed with sequins and fur wrap of mole, received the guests, assisted by Mrs. Hines, the bridegroom's mother, who was dressed in black. Mr. and Mrs. Birch left for their honeymoon early in the evening, Mrs. Birch's travelling gown being a grey tailored costume with emerald green scarf, and hat also with touches of green.

Weekly Judge (Perth, WA : 1919 - 1931), Thursday 1 July 1920, page 2 Women's World FACTS, FADS and FANCIES On Saturday, June 19th, St. Mary's, West Perth, was the scene of a pretty wedding, the contracting parties being Chloris Muriel Johns, daughter of Mrs. Johns, of South Perth, and Lewis Edmund Birch, son of Mrs. J. Hine. The bride, who is one of Perth's prettiest girls, was given away by her brother, and was smartly gowned in ivory charmeuse embroidered with seed pearls, the train being of georgette enriched with pearls and silk roses, a pretty Juliet cap of pearls completed the toilette. Mrs. Senior was a charming dame of honor, in a striking frock of buttercup charmeuse, relieved with jade green. The best man was Mr. Deague. The reception was held in St, Mary's Hall, where Mrs. Johns, assisted by Mrs. Hine, received a large number of guests. During the evening the happy couple left by motor for their honeymoon, Mrs. Birch travelling in a smart tailored costume, with smart emerald green scarf, the hat also having touches of green.

Lewis was born in 1894. He was the son of Henry Birch and Maud Letch. He passed away in 1968.
