Biography

Christy was the daughter of Prussia birch and Margaret Montgomery. [1]

Married. By the Rev. J.D. Murray, on the 6th ult., Mr. Charles Hooper, of Lot 14, to Miss Christy Ann Birch, only daughter of Mr. Prussia Birch, of Lot 13. [2]

They had 7 children: Augusta, Thomas, Colin, Ernest, Ethel, Charles, and Edmund.

After having lived a life that reached a ripe old age and a life fruitful of abundant good works and deeds, Mrs Christiana Hooper, greatly beloved by loved ones, friends and neighbors, passed quietly into her last sleep at her residence in this city Saturday. Mrs Hooper had suffered a fractured hip in 1917 and since that time had never left her home. About two weeks prior to her demise she was taken ill with ailments and complications attendant to old age. Interment was made in the Schuyler cemetery where rest the remains of her husband, four sons, Ernest, Percival, Edmund and Colin and two daughters, Mrs Augusta Moore and Mrs Ethel Whiting. Another daughter, Jane, passed away at the age of 7 years, while the family resided in Canada.

Mrs Hoopers maiden name was Miss Christiana Birch. She was born at Port Hill, Prince Edward Island on March 25 1841 and passed away at Schuyler Nebraska on April 14 1928 at the ripe old age of 87 years and 19 days. the early part of her life was spent on t he land of her nativity. She was united in marriage to Charles Hazard Hooper at Port Hill, Canada on January 6 1865. Mr and Mrs Hooper and their family came to Nebraska in May 1886 and resided at Orleans until December 1887 when they moved to Colfax county.

The only immediate surviving relative is the son, Charles G. Hooper of Schuyler. Mr Hooper passed away in Schuyler on February 4 1920. [3]
