She married in 1910 at Nelson to Richard Thwaites, a Telegraph Linesman. Two children were born in their marriage, Marie Evelyn and Richard George.
Richard enlisted in 1914 and was sent with his unit to Gallipoli. He was wounded in action at Gallipoli in May the following year and admitted to HMT Franconia with severe chest and shoulder wounds. On May 13, Richard was further transferred to 15th General Hospital in Alexandria but died just 16 days later.
Evelyn and her children moved in with her mother in law, Mary Thwaites in Wellington.
Evelyn never remarried and passed away in 1954. NO burial - Crematorium.
