Biography

George W. Bircher was the son of Jeremiah Bircher and Lucinda Holt, born on 24 June 1882 in Grafton, West Virginia.

Around 1903, he married Matilda Lutillie "Tellie" Davis (1881-1949). They had five children: Eva Marie Bircher (1904-1975), Clarence Nolan Bircher (1907-?), Albert Clinton Bircher (1910-1982), Jeneva Louise Bircher (1912-1916), and Hazel Irene Bircher (1916-2010).

Sometimes after 1949, he married Mary M. Lester.

George passed away on 7 March 1960 in Circleville, Ohio.^[1]

THE REV. GEORGE BIRCHER

The Rev. George W. Bircher, 77, of 301 E. High St., died at 3 p.m. yesterday in Gales Nursing Home, 459 N. Court St. He was born June 24, 1882, in Grafton, W. Va., the son of Jerry and Lucinda Bircher.

The Rev. Bircher is survived by his wife, Mary Lester Bircher, 301 E. High St.; a son, Albert, Summerset, Pa., two daughters, Mrs. Marie Imler, Massieville and Mrs. Hazel Arbogast, Shoal, Pa.

Other survivors include four step-sons, Dessel and Johnny Fyffe, Circleville, Herbert, West Jefferson, and Edward, Louisa, Ky.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Minnie White, Columbus, and Mrs. Ona Millard, Five Points; 18 grand children; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schingleton, Milan.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Defenbaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Phillips officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home. Following services the body will be removed to Fairchance, PA, where a brief service and burial will be conducted by the Goldsboro Funeral Home, Thursday.

BIRCHER, GEORGE W. - Friends are being recived in the Goldsboro Funeral Home, Fairchance, where services will be held today at 2 p.m. The Rev. McClellan Riggar will officiate, interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
