Biography

Louisa was born in Shoreditch . Her mother died 2 weeks after her birth and her uncle Thomas Bird and aunty Marion took her to live with them at Romford Essex Helped in Hotel where Uncle worked from 14 years Ammunitions Worker Met and married Arthur while he was recovering from minor war wounds in 1917 through his aquaintence with her cousin Thomas Zepho Bird . Eldest child Arthur born in Romford and they travelled to New Zealand with other warbrides embarking at Liverpool on the 7th September 1918 for New Zealand Farmed and raised family in yhe Waikato until 1928 when the family farm was foreclosed and they moved to Tauranga then Otaika near Whangarei Northland where they farmed and in 1937 sold up and moved to Auckland where after a time in Dominion Road and Grey Lynne they settled in Birkenhead. In the 1960s Lou divorced and remarried. Her second husband Archie Fox died and she continued to live in a retirement village before her death in a rest home in Milford .in 1983

Louisa was born fullterm 7 months after the marriage which raises doubts about the parentage. Charles figured in Louisas life as her occasional visiter Uncle Charles. The Hardwick familt shunned her completely which gives rise to the belief that Charles who was a Chelsea Pensioner with medical problems boarding with the Hardwicks was not the father. He later was found in the 1911 census living with her Aunt. No doubt a bonus to his pension would be an incentive Further DNA tests of the Howarth descendants shows a variation from others in the tree.=== Footnotes ===
