Peter Bird Jr. was born about 1758 in Halifax County, North Carolina.[1] He is the son of Peter Bird Sr and Charity McCullers.
Received a Land Grant October 9,1783 in Halifax County, North Carolina, USA for 190 acres, joining his own corner, Short Swamp, Beech Swamp from the State of North Carolina. Grant 45 was signed by Arther Whitehead, Phillip Rawlins, and John Bass. 936-(407) State of N. C.(No. 45). Alexander Martin, J. Glasgow, Sec.Reg. 18 Apr. 1792.
Located Feb 9, 1786, District 11, Halifax County, North Carolina, USA.[2]
Again located in Edgecombe, Halifax County, North Carolina, USA in 1790.[3] This Census also lists 1 freed person and 3 slaves.
1793 Halifax County, North Carolina, USA sold 177 acres to John Whitaker for $1,000. Of this total land, 155 acres had been willed to sd. PETER BIRD by PETER BIRD Sr. and 22 of which Peter Bird Jr had acquired from Elijah Pitman 17 Mar 1790 and had been part of land patented by John Speir Feb 17, 1797, on the north side of Fishing Creek.
May 21, 1793, witnessed the sale of land from Robert Barrow and Mary Barrow of Halifax Co. to David Lane. David Lane of Halifax Co. to Robert Barrow of same. The sum of 500 pounds for 300 acres on the north side of Fishing Creek, joining Lodging Branch, Wals Branch, Garris, "the dividing line made by Chistopher Haynes deceased between his 2 daughters Lucy Noblin & Mary Barrow, May term of court 1793.
By 1794, He has moved and a fire has destroyed his home. He requests a new deed to be issued to some property He purchased in North Carolina as it was never registered. The following information is taken from court documents found in Hancock County, Georgia. Land on the North side of Powell Creek. Containing by a late survey one hundred and sixty-six acres or thereabout, say more or less, adjoining Bell island and the tract of land formerly belonging to Lobmore Jordan now belonging to Isaac Battle, for which I have received the consideration money in full and made him a Deed of Conveyance for the same. And the said Peter Bird having since departed this life, and I have been informed- ed by Abraham Rawls, acting administrator of the Estate of the said Bird, that the aforesaid Deed has been destroyed by fire, without ever been Recorded, and in order that the legal heirs of said Bird may attain another thereby. I the said John Michael do hereby bind myself my heirs and assigns in the penal sum of twelve hundred dollars, to warrant and forever defend the said tract of land and premises against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever, with the legal heirs of Peter Bird deceased, namely, James Bird for himself and Nancy Bird, Polly Bird, & Irvin Bird and to their legal administrators.
He is listed as living in Captain Leucus District, Hancock County, Georgia, USA in 1794 name on census is spelled Peeter Bird.[4] This would make his move from North Carolina to Hancock County, Georgia between 1794 and 1802.
He died between Feb 1802 and May of 1803 because on the 28th of May in 1803 in Hancock County, Georgia it was "Ordered that citation be published for Penelope Bird to administered on the estate of Peter Bird deceased.[5]
Letter of Administration were ordered 29 Oct 1803, Hancock County, Georgia, USA. Granted to Penelope Bird on the estate of Peter Bird deceased. Whereupon it is ordered that Solomon Jordan, John Vezey, Isaac Battle & John Champion or any three of them be and they are hereby appointed to appraise on oath the personal estate of Peter Bird deceased and were paid $5.[6]
Sep 18, 1804, Hancock County, Georgia, USA, the administratrix of the estate of Peter Bird deceased returned and acc't of sales of part of the personal estate of said deceased amounting to $96.18 3/4.[7]
Account Return 15 December 15, 1804, Hancock County, Georgia, USA, Penelope Bird administratrix of Peter Bird dec'd returned an account of sales of said Peter Bird deceased amounting to $1597.37 1/2 cts.[8]
The Farmer's Gazette January 5, 1805,:

Sheriff's Sale. On the first Tuesday in February next at Hancock Court House, between the usual Hours, Will Be Sold, One Negro Girl by the name of Bet and two Feather Beds; executed as the property of David Hubbard, to satisfy Penelope Bird, administratrix of Peter Bird, dec. Terms Cash. James Hamilton, D. S. 3d January 1805.[9]
Guardianship Bond, February 8, 1805, Hancock County, Georgia, USA, Ordered that James Bird be appointed guardian for the persons and property Erwin Bird, Nancy Bird & Polly Bird orphans of Peter Bird deceased, he giving bond & security in the sum of two thousand dollars.[10]
The Farmer's Gazette: Saturday 23 Feb 1805, Vol. II, No. 79 Notice. After the expiration of nine months from the date hereof, application will be made to the honorable the Court of Ordinary of Hancock county, for leave to sell a tract of land containing 130 acres, on Powell's creek, adjoining Michael and Jordan, lying and being in the said county, for the benefit of the heirs and creditors of Peter Bird deceased. James Bird, Guardian. February 22, 1805.[11]
Court: January 8, 1806 Hancock County, Georgia, USA; Whereas James Bird guardian for the heirs of Peter Bird deceased has advertised and applied for leave to sell a certain tract of land being the real property of the said dec'd containing one hundred and thirty acres on powels creek adjoining Michael and Jordan lying and being in the said county for the benefit of the heirs and credits. It is hereby ordered that the said land be sold agreeable to the law in such case made & provided.[12]
Account Return: May 5th, 1806 in Hancock County, Georgia, USA; Mrs. Penelope Bird and Abraham Rawls administrators of Peter Bird dec'd returned an account of money paid out of the said Estate amounting to four hundred and eighty-six dollars forty cents & 3/4.[13]
Tax Return: February 2nd 1807 in Hancock County, Georgia, USA; James Bird, guardian for the heirs of Peter Bird, deceased, returned an account of moneys paid out for said heirs amounting to sixteen dollars and eighty seven & half cents...[14]
Account Return: March 6, 1809, in Hancock County, Georgia, USA; James Bird guardian of the Orphans of Peter Bird dec'd returned rec'ts amounting to forty-one dollars 62 1/2 cents, expended for Polly Bird during the last year.[15]
Also, a Rec't signed Henry Collier amounting to five hundred and seventy-three dollars & 38 cts in full for Nancy Bird's part of said estate --"[16]
Account Return: December 3, 1810, in Hancock County, Georgia, USA; James Bird guardian to Irwin Bird orphan of Peter Bird he'd returned an account of monies paid for said orphan amounting to thirty-one dollars & four cents."[17]
