Thomas Bird was born in Leicestershire, England.

Thomas Bird was born in about 1811 in Worthington, Leicestershire, England. He was the husband of Mary Hurst. They were married on 18 Nov 1833 in Osgathorpe, Leicestershire, England. Chris Young and Elizabeth Waldram were witnesses. ^[1][2][3][4]

In 1851, Thomas Bird (39, a limestone miner) and Mary (43), along with their three children, George (16, born in Osgathorpe), Mary A (14, born in Worthington) and Hannah (11, born in Breedon) were living in Breedon on the Hill, Leicestershire. ^[5]

In 1871, Thomas (58, a labourer) was a widower living in Melbourne, Derbyshire. His son-in-law and married daughter, William Hodges (32) and Hannah Hodges (31 but transcribed as 41), their four sons, William Hodges (10), Herbert Hodges (7), Frederick Hodges (3) and Isaiah Hodges (1) and one grandson, Thomas Bird (17) were living with him. ^[6]

In 1881, Thomas Bird (68, widower, a coal miner) was living in the house of his son, Thomas Bird (28, widower, a coal miner) and his three children, Caleb, Mary and Harriott, in the parish of Worthington and Newbold. ^[7]

Thomas died in 1886 Q1. He was buried in Griffydam Methodist Church churchyard. ^[8]
