Immigration Noted on death certificate that he had been in New Zealand for 58 years at 1962 so must have emigrated to New Zealand around 1904.

Marriage Robert married Amelia Mary Forster in 1911.[16]

Divorce Robert and Amelia divorced in 1922 after a well reported and acrimonious court case. Robert was awarded custody of the children.[17] [18]

Marriage Robert married Ellen Jessie Strawbridge in 1927.[19] Robert mentioned another three children in his will, his "eldest" son Robert John Bird, and two daughters - Esther Margaret Richardson and Lois Mary Davis.[20]

Died on 4 January 1962 aged 79 at Glenvale, Bay View, Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand[21] Robert died of cerebral vascular disease. He had been suffering from hypertension and cardiac enlargement for some years. Robert's employment listed on his death certificate as a vineyard proprietor.[22]

Buried at Eskdale Cemetary, Napier, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand on 6 January 1962.[23]
