Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Mary Hummel JCU Obit. 6/15/1942 Funeral services were held at 2 PM Monday in the Downing Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Mary Hummel, 79, who died last Friday night at St. Mary`s Hospital, Watertown (WI). She had been ill for one year. Rev. Charles Boardman officiated and the burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery. Mrs. Hummel, formerly Mary Birge, was born in St. Charles, Minn. on May 25, 1863.She was married in Alexandria, South Dakota in 1879 to Charles Hummel, who died in 1899. Mrs. Hummel had lived in Fort Atkinson for more than 50 years. Survivors include six sons, Charles, Robert, and Joseph of California, and George, Richard and Leslie of Fort Atkinson; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Rendon, Chicago; two sisters Mrs. Hattie Dey of Wyocena, Wis; and Mrs. Jennie Danforth, Pine River, Minn. Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
