Colonel Charles Wilfred Birkin was born on 11 February 1865.He was the son of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt and Harriet Tebbutt.

Marriage

He married Claire Lloyd Howe, daughter of Alexander Howe, on 2 July 1892.

Military Service

He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 7th Battalion, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.
