Biography
Thomas Birkley was born approx 1828/9 in England or Ireland. He migrated to Australia arriving at Melbourne in June 1857 aged 28 aboard the "RED JACKET" as an unassisted passenger. In 1866 he married Ellen Wotton (nee McDonnell) at Bendigo. They have two daughters (Elizabeth Ann born 1867 & Ellen born 1872). He was heavily involved in hotels & mentioned in newspapers. His death is unknown.
