When Rosa Alice Bish was born on June 10, 1874, in Davis, Iowa, her father, William, was 54, and her mother, Sarah, was 36. She married Edward Schmallion in Hiu, Lansi-Suomi, Finland. They had two children during their marriage. She died in 1955 in Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 81, and was buried in Rye, Colorado.
