Biography

Elizabeth Bishop (or Bisshop) was born on 25 Feb 1798 and christened 18 Mar 1798 in Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland. According to her birth/christening record, her parents' residence when she was born was Eaglesham (Renfrew), so that would be her birthplace, though she was christened in Paisley Abbey, several miles away. Her parents were John Bishop and Elizabeth Brown (or Broun), and her husband was William Dunlop, whom she married at the Abbey 31 Oct 1818. She and William emigrated to North America, first to Upper Canada (present-day Ontario) in 1819-20 and then to Monroe county, in Southeastern Michigan, before 1830, where she passed away on 4 Oct 1864.
