Marriage

Malin Bishop married first, Maria Sill (1811 - 1849) sometime before 1830.

Malin Bishop married second, Louisa Sill (1814 - 1854) on 2 December 1852 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Louisa Sill was the younger sister of Maria Sill, the first wife of Malin Bishop.

Malin Bishop married third, Elizabeth Hibbard Baker (1813 - 1888) on 18 March 1858 in Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

Census

On September 5, 1850, in Middletown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Mahlon Bishop, age 40, hotel keeper, born in Pennsylvania, was enumerated as the head of household. Also in the household were Sarah J Bishop, age 13, born in Pennsylvania, James F Bishop, age 10, born in Pennsylvania, Anna M Bishop, age 1, born in Pennsylvania, Louisa Sell, age 33, born in Pennsylvania, Michael Harvey, age 20, labourer, born in Ireland, Henry Mangle, age 41, labourer, born in Germany, and Patrick Collins, age 40, labourer, born in Ireland.[2]

Residence

According to the Atlas of Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1873, Malin Bishop had a property at Philadelphia & West Chester Road, just outside the southern boundary of Chester County, but his property was shown on the map of Willistown Township on the plate.[3] His property was near James Sill's property which was near the southern boundary of Willistown Township.

In 1885, Malin Bishop lived in a house, situated at Second Street and North in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.[4]

Death

Malin Bishop died of natural causes at age 81 on 17 October 1889 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.[5]

Burial

Malin S. Bishop was buried on 20 October 1889 at Cumberland Cemetery in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.[5][6]

Probate

Will of Malin Bishop, 19 February 1889

I, Malin Bishop of the Borough of Media, County of Delaware, State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former Wills.

First, I direct my Executor to pay all my debts and funeral expenses,

Item, I give and bequeath to my son James Franklin Bishop the sum of Four thousand dollars ($4000).

Item, I give and bequeath to my son Davis Bishop the sum of Two thousand dollars ($2000).

Item, I hereby direct my Executor to enclose my burial lots at Cumberland Cemetery with a suitable fence, (providing the same is not done at the time of my deceased).

After the payment of my debts, funeral expenses, the above mentioned legacies of four thousand dollars, to my son James Franklin, and two thousand dollars my son Davis, and the expenses of the burial lot, all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate. I give, devise and bequeath unto my five children, Viz: James Franklin, Isaac M, Annie M, Sarah Jane, and Davis, share and share alike.

I hereby nominate and appoint my son James Franklin Bishop to be the Executor of this my last Will an Testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of February A.D. 1889.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Malin Bishop as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our names at his request as witnesses thereto, in the presence of the said testator and of each other.

Be it remembered that on this 21st day of October Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and Eight nine before me A. V. B. Smith Deputy Register for the Probate of Wills, and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County and State aforesaid, personally appeared Isaac Johnson one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, which purports to be the last Will and Testament of Malin Bishop late of the Township of Edgmont deceased, and being duly Affirmed according to law, did depose and say that he was present and saw and heard the testator Malin Bishop sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same as and for this last Will and Testament; and at the doing thereof he was of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of his knowledge and belief.
