Descendant of Thomas and Joan Mildenhall.

Joseph was born in 1919, only son of William Bishop and Mary McConnell. He lived with his parents and sister Ethel on Elsinor Street in Chester;[1], also in the home are his mothers siblings; Sarah 19, Emma 17 and John 10 McConnell. In 1930 they were living at 917 Crosby Street Joseph was 10[2], Ethel was 11, Emma 8, Margaret 6, Sarah 2 and new baby sister Florence. At 20 he with his parents lived at 818 Elsinore Place[3] along with siblings; Ethel 21, Emma 18, Margaret 16, Sarah 12 and Florence 10.

Prior to enlisting he worked for the Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co.[4]

Joseph J. Bishop, 90, of the Glen Mills section of Concord, died Aug. 9 [7]at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Born, raised and educated in Chester, Mr. Bishop lived in Brookhaven for several years before moving to the Glen Mills section of Concord in 1989.

Mr. Bishop worked as a foreman for the PECO power plant in Chester for 30 years before retiring. He previously worked at the Baldwin Shipyard in Eddystone, where he met his wife.

A family man, Mr. Bishop enjoyed playing games, cards and solving crossword puzzles. He was an avid sports fan who particularly liked baseball.

Mr. Bishop was the son of the late William and Mary Bishop and the brother of the late Ethel Bishop and Emma Taylor.

Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Yolanda; daughter, Janet M; sisters, Sara, Margaret , Florence; two grandchildren.[8]

He is interred in the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA [9]
