At the age of 7 he emigrated from England to New Zealand with his parents and 6 siblings on board the ship Oriental. They sailed from Plymouth on 22 June 1841, arrived into Wellington in October 1841 and then on to New Plymouth, New Zealand, arriving on 7 November 1841.[3]
Marriage
Benjamin married Mary (Pattimore) Bishop on the 17 May 1855 at St Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.[4]They had about nine children.
Benjamin passed away on the 10 February 1923 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand, age 89.[5] and was buried on the 12 February 1923 at the Te Henui Cemetery, 173 Lemon Street, Strandon, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.[6]
