Biography

William was born about 1873, the son of Alex Bishop and Anne Fraser. [1]

In 1901, at Toorak, he married Effie Louisa Sheridan Wilson (1867-1902). [2]

BISHOP—WILSON.—On the 19th November, at the Presbyterian Church, Toorak, by the Rev. John Macrae, William Alexander, only surviving son of the late Alexander Bishop, of Hill End, to Effie Louisa, youngest daughter of the late Henry Wilson, Hawthorn.

Effie died in 1902, aged 33.

In 1907 he married Catherine Josephine "Katie" Doveton (1876-1946). [4]

BISHOP—DOVETON.—On the 19th April, at Christ Church, Hawthorn, by the Rev. H. E. Taylor, Wm. A., son of the late Alexander Bishop, to Katie, youngest daughter of late Francis Crossman Doveton.

They had 3 children.

Joy Doveton Bishop (1918-1991).

William passed away in 1954, aged 82. [6]

BISHOP, William Alexander. — On August 6, loving husband of the late Catherine Josephine, loving father of Nancy (Mrs.W. Pearson), Joy (Mrs. J Comper), and Bill. At rest.

Following a service on 7 August 1954, he was buried with first wife Effie at Boroondara Cemetery, Kew, in Wesleyan Section A, Grave 64. [8]
