Gerrit Dirks Bispeling & Griete Jans Scholten (Scholte): Children: Dirk (1716), Lumigje (1725), Aaltje (1730), Jan (1732).
Scholten means sheriff. Gerrit was a pontificate. It seems that Gerrit and Grietje first attended the Giethoorn Reformed Church and then became Mennonite. Two of their children were Reformed, and the other two were Mennonite.
The only payment list Gerrit could have appeared on is the 1723 Vuurstedengeld. He does not appear on it. Perhaps he didn't own his own home - everyone on it seems to be a home owner, and there are others who don't appear on it. Gerrit and Grietje also don't appear in the 1748 census. They may have died by this time, or they may have lived on the border of a different town and are recorded there. [1]
