Daniel Jacobus Johannes was born on 6 December 1858 and baptised 12 October 1859 in Rustenburg, Transvaal, South Africa. He was the son of Johan Hendrik and Elizabeth Anna Maria Malan.[1]
He had at least nine siblings:

His first wife was Hester M. Regina Catharina Scheepers who died in the Anglo Boer War British Concentration camps. Daniel married Hester Meriena Regina Catharina Scheepers on 27 December 1883 in Rustenburg, Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek.[2]
His second wife was E.E. Smit. Engela Elizabeth Smit (age 23) married Daniel Jacobus Johannes Bisschoff (age 43) on 26 June 1903 in Rustenburg, Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek [Transvaal, South Africa].[3]
His third wife was C.J. van der Merwe. Daniel (age 71) married Catherina Jacoba (born Hattingh) van der Merwe (age 42) on 1 July 1930 in Rustvoorby, Rustenburg, Transvaal, South Africa.[4]
Daniel (age 80) married Catharina Aletta Putter (age 62) on 6 December 1938 in Lisbon, Rustenburg, Transvaal, Suid-Afrika.[5]
He died on 25 March 1948 at the age of 90.[6] / Daniel died (age 89) on 25 March 1948 in Nooitgedacht, Rustenburg, Transvaal, South Africa.[7][8]

He, his wife and children are listed as being in the Anglo Boer War British Concentration camps[9]. Mr Daniel J J Bisschoff is the husband of Mrs Hester Regina Catharina Bisschoff (who arrived aged 34 in 1901 and died in the camp in 1901)[9] and
