Biography

Thomas Bissell, son of John and an Unknown wife,[1] was born in 1630 in Somerset, immigrated to the Plymouth Colony with his family of origin in 1638, and subsequently to Windsor, Connecticut. There he married Abigail Moore, daughter of John and Abigail Moore, on October 11, 1655 [2][3], and the couple had 13 children[4]. Thomas was appointed Deputy to the General Court of Windsor on May 20, 1652. He served in the so-called "King Phillip’s" War against the Native Americans in 1675. He was the principal heir to his father John’s estate in 1677. He died on July 31, 1689 and his wife Abigail died in 1700, both in Windsor.

Note, some researchers say he was born in Connecticut.

Thomas was born in 1628. He passed away in 1689.

Bissell-935 and Bissell-7 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicate

Please see the Research Notes on the profile for John Bissell.

It is explained in detail who Elizabeth Thompson was, and why she was not the mother of Samuel Bissell, Thomas Bissell, or any of the children of John Bissell the immigrant.

There are duplicate profiles for Elizabeth Thompson, and first Thomas and Samuel should be disconnected as her sons. If there is a profile at WikiTree for the person she is being confused with, the two duplicates should be merged into it. The profile that is still connected to John Bissell as his wife needs to be disconnected.

(Again, see explanation on profile for John Bissell, under Research Notes to identify the real Elizabeth Thompson.)

A new profile is needed, Unknown, as the wife of John Bissell.

In SAR application father is listed as Zabulon Bissell.
