Biography

He was the son of Robert Bisset and Agnes Abercromby, daughter of [Unknown] Abercromby of Birkenbog.

He married Anne, daughter of Dun of Tarty, commonly called " Bonnie Annie of Tarty." Her portrait may be seen at Lessendrum. She died, in 1782.

  2. Alexander, his successor, baptised January 27, 1734. Witnesses, Mr. David Maitland and Alexander Forsooth., died unmarried.
  3. Anne.
  4. Agnes, baptised November 22, 1726. Witnesses, Patrick Dun of Tarty and James Gordon of Cocklarachie.
  5. Mary, married Rev. Mr. Abel, minister of Drumblade.
  6. Jean, baptised April, 1728. Witnesses, Alexander Dun of Tarty and James Gordon of Cocklarachie.
  7. Margaret, baptised December 24, 1730. Witnesses, [Unknown] Dun of Tarty and James Gordon of Cocklarachie.
  8. Elizabeth, baptised June 20, 1732. Witnesses, James Gordon of Cocklarachie and William Gordon of Lesmoir.
  9. Catharine, and others.

James Bisset died in 1748, and was succeeded by his son, Alexander.
