They traveled aboard the Lochinvar from Antwerp, Belgium with the place of origin being Switzerland. Departure from Antwerp on 14 Mar 1855 and arriving in New York on 25 Apr 1855. The 1860 Federal Census reflects the family settling in Baughman Township, Wayne, Ohio. The family moved sometime before 1870 to Franklin Township, Summit, Ohio where they remained until their deaths
Both Philip and Robert married sisters; Philip marrying Sarah Sellers, 17 Nov 1874 and Robert marrying Mariah (Maria) Sellers, 26 Dec 1871.
