Biography

Elmer was born in 1861 in Winnebago, Illinois, the son of Emerson Bixby and Emily Wheeler. His mother died within months or perhaps a year after his birth. Elmer’s father remarried, to Lydia Seal, and they had children. In 1880, they lived in Stanton Township, Plymouth, Iowa. Elmer and his father were farmers.

Elmer married Maude Roberts in 1905. They had three daughters. Maude preceded him in death. In 1905, they lived in South Dakota; in 1900, they lived in Bon Homme, S. Elmer E. Bixby is buried at Memorial Cemetery, LeMars, Iowa, with his father, stepmother, and two half brothers. His mother, Emily Wheeler, 1843 VT - 1862, is buried at Winnebago, Illinois. ^[2]
