Notes

Note N839(Personal Interview with Aunt Pat McCorkle Payne by F.L.Hawkins in 1982.) "I remember vaguely the parents of John Payne but not too well. They lived about a mile from McCorkle place in Macpealah. Back off the road. This was about 1890. They had a girl who was red headed but sickly."

(Interview with Rev. B. E. Morris in Baptist Retirement Home in Asheville in March 1982. He was well above 90 years of age but still very active. F.L.H.) "I never saw my grandfather Black many times. He was an invalid and I was just about 8 or 10 years old when I remember him last. He lived near the Plank Rd. in Lincoln Co. Grandmother was a Fish, or Fisher. My mother, Docia, was 87 years old when she died."

Aunt Pat Payne also told me that James Black had married a Fish woman. I have not found this documented anywhere. F.L.H.

(1840 Tax List of Lincoln County, NC.) "In Capt. R. Abernathy's Company: Black, James F., 91 acres, 1 which person."

Black-11286 and Black-10973 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same 2 people. I didn't see this profile when I made the duplicate.
