Marion Elsie was born in 1888 She was the daughter of John Black and Mary Ann nee Vaughan [1]
Miss Elsie Black, the well-known flautist, of the Black family. was married quietly at Scots Church. Church Hill, recently, to Mr J. Garrett. late of New Zealand, and an ex-soldier(states a Sydney exchange) The bride wore a travelling costume of grey cloth, with a hat in henna tones, and carried a posy of white flowers. Her bridesmaid was Miss Dring, who was frocked in pale grey georgette with a blue hat. Mrs Garrett belongs to the musical Black family. Mr and Mrs Garrett spent their honeymoon at Leura.[2]
She resided in Sydney at the time of her mother's death in 1935
