Biography
From Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania:
Samuel Black, Dr. Cyrus B. King's maternal grandfather, came from Ireland to America, shortly after the Colonies had declared their independence from the mother country, and was engaged in farming and glass manufacturing. He became a large holder of realty in Pittsburgh, was very active in public affairs, prosperous, established the first ferry from Pittsburgh to Birmingham, and died in 1845.
