Biography

John Black ("Primus") was the son of John Black (who was born about 1590 in Scotland - died Belfast, Ireland).

He is mentioned in the Ulster Journal of Archaeology (source cited below) at p. 186: citing the diary of John Black (Tertius) written in Bordeaux in December 1754, as follows:

“My grandfather John Black (fn 2) born about Ballymena County of Antrim had been a trooper against Cromwell…” and footnote 2 states:” John Black (Primus}, said to have been born at Broughshane, lived to 104 years of age ( 1617-1721 ?). His wife is supposed to have been a Miss Martin of Comber.”
