Marriage banns for he and Thankful Snow, daughter of Nicholas Snow and Huldah Watkins, were published Aug 1, 1800[1] at Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine;

He died. May 1, 1859 at Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine, He was buried at Walker Cemetery, Brooksville, Hancock County, Maine.

Find A Grave: Memorial #50208013 The stone has broken and repaired, obliterating the date and age at death. Almon A. Gray's 1982 cemetery inventory recorded 1 May 1859 Æ 79yrs 6mos 21dys There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God
From Almon Gray: I know he was the Captain of the local Militia Company during the war of 1812. He owned a water driven mill on the outlet of Blacks Pond. The mill was near where the younger Joab lived.
From Walter Snow: It is tradition among member of this branch of the Black family that several of Captain Black's children were lured by the gold rush in the 1850's and went to California.
