Biography

Pyesa was Sauk.

Pyesa was born about 1740. Pyesa Black Hawk ... He passed away about 1787. Pyesa was the tribal medicine man of the Sauk people. He had a famous son, Chief Black Hawk, who joined him in a raid against Cherokees along the Meramec River in Missouri. After Pyesa died from wounds received in the battle, Black Hawk inherited the Sauk medicine bundle that had been carried by his father. [1]
