Biography

According to the certificate of death for Mary A, (Adamson) Blackburn, her deceased husband was listed as " Dr. Joseph Blackburn." The informat providing that information was Mary and John Blackburn's daughter, Mary Catherine (Blackburn) Hilton. He sometimes went by the name of Joel, John or in this case Joseph Blackburn.

"Dr. John S. Blackburn of Ft. Worth Gary Bruce Blackburn (View posts) Posted: 18 Mar 2001 12:00PM GMT Classification: Query Surnames: Blackburn, Morgan, Christa, Rigsby I am searching for any information on my Great Great Grandfather. His death certificate lists him as Dr. John S. Blackburn of Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, a physician. He died of a cerebral concussion on July 28, 1908. His funeral was handled by the G. L. Gause Funeral Home and he was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. His first wife was Siotha Morgan Christa and they were married in Rolla, Missouri on April 24, 1862. He served in Co. I, 10th Missouri Cav. Vols. and was discharged May 25, 1865. He married my Great Great Grandmother, Dasreen Rigsby in Van Buren County Iowa on December 25, 1866. They had three children. He disappeared sometime around 1872 and no one in the family knows where he was or what he was doing until his death in 1908. Any information would be appreciated. John's been a mystery for 130 years! Thanks"
