Birth

Irvin was born on 4 Apr 1920 in Neillsville, Clark, Wisconsin, to Harold Blackdeer and Nellie Wallace. (Soc. Sec., Draft Card)

Appearance

According to his 1941 draft card, he stood 5' 11" tall, weighed 198 lbs., had black hair, brown eyes, and a light brown complexion.

Military Service

He initially enlisted in the Army Infantry (serial #391140513) before the war on 15 Oct 1940, and was released on 7 Nov 1941. During the war, he again entered the Army on 30 Jun 1944, and at the end of the war was released on 21 Dec 1945. (BIRLS)

Marriage

His first marriage was to Bertha Greengrass, whom he divorced on 21 December 1982. (Wisc. Div. Rec.)

He had a second family with Mary L. Whitebeaver. They had at least one child, Toyvie Leyden “Oopie” Blackdeer in 1960. (Obit, Find a Grave)
