Solomon Blackmer was born 7 April 1767 in Ware, Massachusetts, the son of William and Lydia Blackmer.[1][2][3][4][5]
He married Miriam Benedict in Randolph, Vermont, on 7 October 1796.[6] The Blackmer family lived in Barnard, Vermont. Solomon Blackmer died in Barnard, Vermont, on 7 January 1813, "in his 46 year," and is buried in Barnard Village Cemetery.[7][8][9]

Will
Solomon Blackmer of the town of Barnard, Windsor County, Vermont, made his will on 9 November 1812. It was proved at Woodstock, Vermont, on 3 February 1813. In the will Solomon provided for his wife Miriam to receive his household furniture, his horse and woman's saddle, his sleigh and sleigh harness, and two cows and ten sheep. She also was to have the use and improvement of all of his real estate until the first of April 1822, after which date the real estate would go to his oldest sons, John and Hyram Blackmer. Wife Miriam was required to provide for and support all of the children until they reach the age of fourteen years, and she was to have the use and improvement of the children's labour except for three months each year to be devoted exclusively to their schooling. She also was to provide for and have the use of the labour of sons John and Hyram until they reached age 21, and provide them with two months of schooling per year. The majority of the residue of the estate was designated to sons John and Hyram, except that they were to provide $100 to each of the three youngest sons (Alden Blackmer, Lucien Blackmer, and Joel Blackmer) when they arrived at age 21. He asked for wife Miriam Blackmer to be appointed executrix.[11]
