Ben was born about 1853. He was the first husband of Mary Ann Smith, she m. (2) Matthew Castle Pinckney Smith. There is a strong possibility that Ben was related to Isaiah Blackmon brother or cousin. Contact D, Marshall Satterwhite I am a great-grandson of M. C. P. Smith who married Ben Blackmon's widow, Mary Ann Smith Blackmon.
Copied from: http://sites.rootsweb.com/~txhousto/biographies/blackmon_ben.htm Ben Blackmon and Mary Ann Smith had a son Samuel B. Blackmon in 1880 Houston Co.TX. Ben was born in Louisiana and Mary Ann in Alabama in 1859. They were living in Augusta, Houston Co., TX at the time of Sam's birth. Number of children born to this mother and now living was 2. Ben was 27 years old. Person reporting the birth was Mary Ann's brother was James H. Smith who lived in Crockett at the time. James H. Smith also later married Ben and Mary's daughter-in-law's sister, Florence A. Granberry. This was issued in Oct. 1942. The court house in Crockett burned twice so some records are hard to find. Mary Ann Smith Blackmon married Matthew C. P. Smith after Ben Blackmon died. They had three daughters. Then when Matthew died she married Ben Woelfley. They had no children. She is buried at Concord Cemetery Houston County, TX next to my great-grandfather Isaiah and his son and his wife, Isaiah and Bessie Blackmon. Submitted by: Lloyd and Patti Blackmon, Jewett, TX
