Research Notes

A. Find A Grave has his surname as "Blackmer" [1] but O.F. Stetson, in "The Descendants..." [2] has Blackmore.
B. The only source reference that I can find regarding his parents is on his Find A Grave memorial. [1] A member of the Blackmer/Blackmore family has raised doubts about that that as a source, so we have removed the link to his presumed parents pending better information. -- rsl - Dec 2020.

Please provide reliable records and original sources for Asa's parents. Thank you.
Are these enough? Mostly from the Stetsons, and records on Family Search, but I think it establishes what you want.... altho FaG is the only source for his parents names.

Thank you very much, but what I'm looking for is any original source that proves his parents are Solomon Blackmer and his wife Janet, who are my direct ancestors. I did extensive research to find proof and didn't succeed. The FAG doesn't show any original source for his parents, so it isn't a reliable source in my opinion. Therefore I will remove them as parents until such time as they can be proved to be the parents of Asa.
That is fine - I can't find anything besides FaG either, altho I only did a cursory search.

The Stetson Kindred reference is only about his marriage to Betsey Stetson, no help there. She and even her father is missing from the Barry Genealogy. My first real reference, outside of "The Descendants marriage reference" is the FaG link, it seems to be on most of the open genealogies, but without and source material.

Good Luck in digging up more definitive info on AsaBlackmore/Blackmer. I will leave the parents in the Profile, pending more sources that correct the record, but I am putting in language the will cast doubt on Asa's parentage. Thanks for trying to work this one out.
