Ruby A. Rowland, 81, of 202 Preston Street, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital - Downtown.

Mrs. Rowland was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Frank and Nannie Dodson Blackston. She retired from Stone Manufacturing Company after 35 years of service. She was an avid gardener and was known as the "Green Thumb Lady." Mrs. Rowland was of the Assembly of God faith and attended Liberty Ministries in Greenville.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph C. "Billy" Rowland of the home; a son, James "Sammy" Rowland and his wife, Chris, of Chulate, Florida; and a nephew raised as a son, Tommy Ellison Blackston and his wife, Donna, of Starr, S.C.; a daughter, Sandra "Sandy" Rowland Scott and her husband, Stephen, of Calhoun Falls, S.C.; a sister, Bertie Ware of Easley; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Allen Blackston and Ralph Blackston.

Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home and will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
