Biography

In 1910, Roy Blackstone, a 3 year old, lived with his parents Hamp and Annie, at 2 Ridge Row, Piedmont, West End Grove Township, Greenville, South Carolina. His father worked as an overhauler in a spinning room, and children Lee and Eunice worked as doffers in a cotton mill. There were seven children in the family, and Hamp's sister Carrie lived with them.^[2]

In 1920, 17 year old "Roy" Blackstone lived in Grove Township, Greenville, South Carolina, with his parents H.B. and Annie "Blackston." H.B. was an automobile mechanic. Eight brothers and sisters lived with the family.^[3]

Clifton Roy Blackstone is buried at Greenville Memorial Garden's main entrance he had 4 daughter's 3 son's my dad is the youngest son Donnie Joe Blackstone, Clifton Roy Blackstone was a Automobile Machanic he had a nick name Greese Blackston some of his family didn't care the "E" on Blackstone, No body has never said but, I thing that I have heard is that the rich ones care an "E" and the poor one's didn't. lol, this was a family joke, but i have also heard it was a Religious belief dispute, The Blackstone family are very well none for years as being mechanics. He lived in Florida for a little and my grandmother Bessie Hooper got sick and they came back to live in Piedmont, S.C, in Golden Grove Community, Piedmont, Greenville County, S.C my grandmother died at the age of 59 year's, I never got to meet her that is the reason my Blackstone and Hooper family tree is going to have some stories. His parents was Wade Hamp Blackstone and Annie Taylor John Hiram Blackstone .1838 -1913 was Clifton Roy Blackstone's grandfather and Roy's Grandmother was Elizabeth Marzeila Breazeale 1841-1913. Obituary of C. Roy Blackstone

Clifton Roy Blackstone 73, of 105 Jamison street, Judson Greenville County, S.C, a retired automobile mechanic, died Thursday. Born in Grove Township, Greenville, County, S.C., son of the late Hampton and Annie Taylor Blackstone, he was a Baptist. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Doris B. Aspray of Anderson, Mrs. Bonnie B. Bell and Mrs. Shelby B. Racial of Greenville. and Mrs. Judy B. Ingram of Piedmont; three sons, Robert C. Blackstone of Piedmont and Billy Ray Blackstone and Donnie Joe Blackstone of Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Eunice Taylor and Margarie Lee of Lyman, Mrs. Nettie Parris of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Ruth McCauley of Greenville, and Mrs. Annie Sue Childs of Travelars Rest; two brothers, Taylor Blackstone and Dee Blackstone of Greenville; 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saterday at the Chapel at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The family is at the home of Robert C.
