The Blackstone family name is found in Keowee, Seneca, Pickens, Oconee, Anderson, Pendleton District, Hurricane Township, Golden Grove, Greenville (Grove Station), Pelzer, Piedmont, Judson, West Greenville. These families are all decendants of John Hiram Blackstone Sr 1808/12 and Mary Unknown.

Blackstone family in Georgia 1810's 1820's 1830's, 1840's doesn't claim this line There was a John B Blackstone 1781 and John Milton Blackstone Sr 1779. Both seems to be son's of James Pope Blackstone's family. This connection as yet not been proved or sourced as a true connection

Although 1820 Census list John Blackston Senior which would make sense he had a Son named John he would be listed as Free White Persons - Males - Under 10 View for more details John Blackston Senior [John Blackstone] Home in 1820 (City, County, State): Capt Elijah Joness District, Warren, Georgia Enumeration Date: August 7, 1820. Notes from a Relative

J.H. Blackstone's or John H Blackstone's or Hiram Blackstone's are listed as Confederate soldiers in the Greenville Confederate museum. Only two Blackstone's listed. The land I live on off Moores Mill rd, Pelzer, Anderson, SC was first deeded to the Blackstone's and John Hiram Blackstone Jr 1838-1913 is buried at White Plains, Baptist Church, Pelzer, Anderson County, SC. This Cemetery is less then a mile from this Blackstone property.

If he's William from Maine related, Father would be found in South Carolina in 1810/1820 who had at least 3 sons and was dead by 1830 .

  • William Blackstone (1766 - 1850). Geni has William having a first wife named Abigail , needs more research.

Wife?

  • The Pickens Sentinal - Issue of Thursday 23 June 1887, Transcript; Mrs. Mary Blackstone of Hurricane Township. died the fifteenth instantly at the home of her son Silas Blackstone at the age of 82 years, Burial at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sunset Pickens County, South Carolina,

Possible Duplicate?

  • John Blackstone born 1812 South Carolina and his wife and children this can't be our John Blackstone because our John Hiram Blackstone is living with his mother Mary Blackstone in the 1850 S.C Census age 12 and she is head of house with his other siblings. The area was Township 8 Eastatoe, Pickens, South Carolina, United States of America that the Blackstone family lived in from my research. I would like more information on this area..

MILITARY

  • We assume he was a Soldier believed to have died in Service Spouse : Mary Unknown Blackstone /Blackston / Blacksten, i have read that she maybe buried at Mount Bethel Methodist Church Cemetary, Sunset Pickens County, South Carolina b. est. 1805 Eastahoe, Pickens County, South Carolina. d June 23, 1887 Hurricane Township Pickens County, South Carolina.

CENSUS/LAND

  • 1820 [7] - John not positively identified on the census. He could be one out of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, etc.
  • 1830 CENSUS -in Pickens, South Carolina there is a listing for a John H. Blackstone with only a female between the ages of 15 to 19 years in his household. Its very likely to be our John and his wife Mary.
  • 1840 CENSUS - lists 5 people in the household of Hiram Blackstone, A Male between the age of 20 to 30 years. In the household is a Female of the same age, and three children. One boy aged under 5 years, One boy aged between 6 to 10 years and one female aged under 5 years. Some Henderson's are found on the same page below a Richard Blackstone, who is a possible brother to John. The Henderson's possibly are connected to this family - Henderson-13809

The Blackstone family of Pickens County South Carolina had land on Little Crow Creek road area and this land (108 acres) was said to have been sold in 1877 at a Pickens County Sheriff sale.

  • There was a Pickens County, South Carolina Sheriff 's Sale of 108 Acres on Little Crow Creek Water's of Keowee adj, Watson Stewart, Abe M. Mauldin and other's conveyed to J. Hiram Blackston by Mary Blackstone the 20th of September 1877, To be sold as the property of J. Hiram Blackston at the suit of Watson Stewart ( This book lists abstracts from the paper ),
  • There should be a deed for the transfer of land which took place on 20th September 1877, maybe explains relationship. There may be a court case instigated by Watson Stewart. Who was he? A relative maybe married to one of Mary's daughters or was he owed a debt?

It appears that Watson Stewart and Abe Maudlin were Executors or Trustees of John Hiram Blackstone's estate. Whether they are somehow related to the Blackstone family is unknown. They would have brought an application to the local court to proceed with the sale. Mary Blackstone would have had to acknowledge her approval of the proceedings. Whether they are somehow related to the Blackstone family is unknown.
