Biography

Richard was born between 1800 to 1810 in South Carolina, United States. His parents are Uncertain, but believed to be Thomas Blackstone (abt.1770-abt.1814) and Judith Blackstone (abt.1780-) at one time although family story goes that he is a Brother of John Hiram Blackstone. More research on the family connection to Richard and John Hiram.

Research Notes

Family Brick Wall Help - Parents are Uncertain, Richard was attached to them because his name appeared on the 1840 census on the same page as John Hiram Blackstone (abt.1812-bef.1850) and is thought to be a brother.

Did he have a son Henry H Blackstone born 1845/46 in Georgia before moving on to Texas. Here’s sources on Henry H. Blackstone (H maybe Harrison?). *https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?dbid=7602&h=14931409&indiv=try&o_vc=Record:OtherRecord&rhSource=6742

NOTE- This Richard would have been too young to serve in the War of 1812?

If this is this Richard Blackston, then he was in Maryland in the 1812 War

Note that this is the Richard Blackstone that some claim was born 1791 SC, looking at 1830 census you will see age 20-29 looking at 1840 census you will see age 30-39 so then 1850 he is listed as Birth 1791 age can be changed if you see need be. Thanks..

Hi Donnie,

I’m so glad to hear from you as I have not corresponded with too many Blackstones from the same line. I have always wondered if your John Hiram was brother to my Richard Blackston(e). Do you have any bible records or other information that shows they are brothers? I know that some researchers have thought they were brothers and that their mother was Judith. I have also wondered if John Milton Blackstone who was the son of Winfred Zachary and a Blackstone was related. His descendants went to Alabama and then to Texas with some of them spending time in Arkansas. Commodore Anson (shown as Andrew, son of John Milton), William Henry and John Harvey (both sons of Commodore Anson) are on the 1870 Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas census where Hannah Longstreet Blackstone resided. Hannah was my 2nd great grandmother. There is also a Trussell family living with Commodore that I have never been able to identify how they fit. However, they must be related because William Trussell (found first on the 1860 Jackson Parish, LA census) is shown with two of Anson's sons. I find it very interesting that this branch shows up where Richard was in 1860 and his daughter still lives. I don't think this is a coincidence but I don't know how they fit.

Have you done any DNA testing? I have taken the Family Tree Family Finder test. It would be very interesting to see if we match on the test.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Connie
