The above spouse Nancy Bush (some think she is Nancy Bushyhead of the Cherokees) has been merged and though not proven yet as the true Nancy Bushyhead. Her son applied on the Rolls and was denied. Per communication with a deceased Chief of Cherokee Nations in Talequah Nancy Bush wife of George Washington Blackwell was not related to the Cherokee Nation. He was going by Starrs Cherokee Family Tree. Nancy Bush and her children did travel with the Cherokees on the Trail of Tears. George Washington Blackwell who served with the army was hired to bring the Cherokees to Oklahoma Indian Territory. (If you had any blood relation to the Cherokee and served in the army the person was denied of Cherokee Heritage and family) His wife Nancy died soon after arriving at his bother’s home in Hickory Co, MO. George and the children stayed in MO with his bother and family. One of the daughters Dorcus Ann (Blackwell) Bennet moved to Seminole Territory with her children. I believe her husband Henderson Bennet was deceased at this time. Dorcus Ann Bennet can be found in the cemetery of Paden OK with her son Benjamin Valentine Bennet. One of her daughters Malinda (Bennet) Teague is buried in Haskell, Muskogee, OK. The marriage certificate for the Blackwell’s list George Washington and Nancy Bush of Rhea TN.

Blackwell-5619 and Blackwell-939 appear to represent the same person because: Birthplaces and deathplaces match. Dates do not match exactly, but are close enough. Wives and children are close.
