Biography

Mary Ellen was the daughter of John Blain and Alice Miller. She never married and passed away in 1974.

Her date of birth is uncertain -- it is variously recorded as:

1881 (1920 census)

1885 (1910 census)

Sep 1888 (1915 census)

1890 (1930 census)

12 Sep 1890 (Social Security death index)

Her grand nephew James Edward "Jef" Fall remembers that Mary Ellen was 94 years old at the time of her death in July 1974, which if she was born in September, would make her year of birth 1881.

She does not appear in the 1900 census with her family, so may have been away at school at that time.
