Biography

Birth

Robert Blair was born about 1856 in County Tyrone, Ireland. He is the son of John Blair, a farmer.

Marriage

Robert married Ellen Megaw Robson, a spinster from Lisnatrunk, Lisburn, County Down, the daughter of Hugh R Robson, on January 13, 1886 at Hillhall Presbyterian Church, Lisburn, County Down.[1]

1901 Census of Ireland

On March 31, 1901 Robert was residing at 54 Mountpottinger Road in the Pottinger ward of Belfast. His age was recorded as 44 years old. His occupation was listed as Grocer. He is a Presbyterian. Also at the address are his wife and his two surviving daughters, Ellen and Jane.[2]

1911 Census of Ireland

On April 2, 1911 Robert, now a widower, is residing at 137 Upper Newtownards Road in the Pottinger ward of Belfast. His age was recorded as 53 years old. His occupation was listed as Retired Grocer. He is a Presbyterian. Also at the address are his two surviving daughters.[3]

Death

Robert died on September 7, 1916 at a Private Nursing Home, 87 Fitzroy Avenue, Belfast. His age was recorded as 59 years old. Cause of death was determined by an Inquest held on September 9, 1916 and was listed as Heart failure from exhaustion consequent on fracture of leg. Accidental. His last place of residence was recorded as Plevna, Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast.[4]

Burial

Robert was buried on September 9, 1916 at Belfast City Cemetery in plot reference C2 19.[5]
