James died single before 1550 and his sisters were co-inheritors as heir portioners after him. When his father died he was still young as there eventually a guardian/tutor appointed for him after some disagreement as to who that would be. (A tutor was to administer the affairs of minor heirs and they would have full control of the inherited property)
Margaret married 1548 John Nisbet her tutor was Alexander Nisbet of Bankhead Possibly the Alexander of Bankhead that was married to a Margaret Campbell [2]
Mariota married before 1553 John Lockhart her tutor was ??? 1553.-- Hugh Campbell of Loudoun buys 40 s Auchinrugland 10s Sornehill and 20s Sorne from MARIOTA NESBIT AND HER HUSBAND, JOHN LOCKHART. MARGARET BLAIR, MOTHER OF MARIOTA NESBIT, was occupying the 20 pound land of Sorne . Among those attesting this charter was John Lockhart of Bar and John Lockhart his father[3]
