Biography

Henry Blaisdell was born on April 28, 1663 in Amesbury, Massachusetts, son of Henry Blaisdell and Mary (Haddon) Blaisdell.[1][2][3] By occupation he was a husbandman and tailor.[2]

Military

In May 1680 he is listed as a petitioner on the Petition to the General Court requesting that an officer be assigned;

"The Amesbury "Training band," being without "an officer to conduct & instruct them in military exercises," the following persons signed a petition that "our well respected and esteemed Friend Samll Foot, our late Sergeant & chieffe officer," 'be our Lieftena'tt." They state that they consider him the most suitable person for the place, as they "have experienced or observed his faculty in Military discipline."[3]

Marriages

He married first, by 1686, Mary (___). She died circa 1690.[2]

He married secondly, about 1691, widow Hannah (Rowell) Colby.[2] Hannah was born in January, 1654, daughter of Valentine and Joanna (Pinder) Rowell. [1] She died on August 9, 1707.[4]

He married thirdly on October 27, 1707, Dorothy Martin.[2][4]

His Father's Estate

His father Henry Sr.'s estate was inventoried on March 9, 1707/8.[5]

Samuel Clough, Ebenezer Blasdell and William Pressey, all being of age, submitted a written testimony to the court that they heard, on March 9, xxxx, widow Blasdell, widow of Henry Blasdell Sr., stated that she renounced the administration of her late husband's estate, that she would not keep the house, nor any goods. Further, that she handed the keys to the eldest son, Henry Blasdell Jr., and 'went away.' Henry Jr. was appointed administrator of his father's estate.[5]

Death

He died on 11 Mar 1708 in Amesbury.[4]

On May 3, 1708, widow Dorothy Blaisdell widow of Henry Blaisdell deceased, son of Henry Blaisdell, deceased, submitted an agreement regarding her one third dower and confirmed that she had received her portion and quit claimed and discharged any rights to the estate.[5]

After his death his widow Dorothy married Thomas Ayers of Haverhill.[2][4]

  1. Dr Henry born circa 1682; died at Chelmsford in the winter of 1735/6; married first Martha Barltett of Haverhill[4]; he married second, Lydia Parker by 1720, who survived him and married ___ Spaulding.[2]
  2. Mary born ___; married Samuel Clough Jr. of Amesbury on December 12, 1706[4]; she was his wife in 1719.[2]
  3. John born on February 4, 1686/7: died in the spring of 1753; married Ebenezer Stebbins on January 11, 1710/11.[2][4]
