Madelyn R. (Blake) Mathew, age 85, of Lafayette died at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday April 25, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born December 3, 1926 near Monon in White County to the late Charles and Mildred Burks Blake. Madelyn was a 1944 graduate of Wolcott High School. She worked for 16 years at CTS in West Lafayette and then worked as a cashier at the former Osco Drugstore on Elmwood Avenue. Most recently she worked at Nana's Workshop Antique Store near Five Points. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her five children; Mike Mathew of Kingman, IN, John (wife: Kathleen) Mathew of Logansport, IN, Gina (husband: John) Culver of Chalmers, IN, Paul (wife: Maryellen) Mathew of Remington, IN, and Beth (husband: Lonnie) Feeney-Baker of Lafayette, and one sister: Frances (husband: Richard) Fisher of Indianapolis. Madelyn is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Madelyn's children would like to thank all the family and friends for the love and support given to Madelyn during her life.
Recitation of the Rosary at 10:45 a.m. Friday followed by the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds with Father John Cummings officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
