Biography
Benjamin was born in 1810.[1] He was the son of Jacob Blake and Abigail Wilson.
He was married twice. He married first Eliza Curtis (1808-1851) in 1834 in Harpswell, ME. They were the parents of:
- Margaret Curtis Blake 1835-1904
- Sarah Jane Blake 1836-1898
- Susan Stover Blake 1839-1915
- Francis Marion Blake 1840-1854
- Nancy Eliza Blake 1843-1927
- Pauline Blake b. 1845-1923
- Jeremiah Curtis Blake 1846-1915
- Benjamin Herbert Blake Jr. 1848-1911
He was listed as a farmer with wife Eliza and 8 children in 1850.
He married second, Mary Sewell Dunning (1814-1879) in 1854.[2] They had one daugher:
- Mary Blake b. 1854-1873
He was listed as a day laborer in 1870, and ship carpenter in 1880.
He passed away in 1881. He is buried in Hallowell Village Cemetery.
