Mary Jane Blake was born in NSW on 4 September 1849, the daughter of Thomas Blake and Ann Walsh.^[1] She was the fifth of eight daughters and had 1 younger brother.

Mary Jane Blake, daughter of Thomas Blake and Ann Walsh, married Richard Elliott, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Elliott in Orange, NSW on 19 August 1867.^[2] They had seven children:
