Childhood

Mary (Blake) Clayton was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)
Mary Jane Blake was born in NSW on 4 September 1849, the daughter of Thomas Blake and Ann Walsh.[1] She was the fifth of eight daughters and had 1 younger brother.

Life with Richard Elliott

Mary Jane Blake, daughter of Thomas Blake and Ann Walsh, married Richard Elliott, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Elliott in Orange, NSW on 19 August 1867.[2] They had seven children:
  1. John Elliot;
  2. Clara (Elliot) Dodd (1871-1929);
  3. William Elliott (1872-1880);
  4. Thomas Blake Elliott (1874-1875);
  5. Joseph Elliott (1875-1875)
  6. Florence (Elliott) Castledine (1876-1963);
  7. Selina Elliott (1879-1961) and
  8. Alfred Elliott (1880-abt.1881).

Uncorroborated Children

  • Several researchers (e.g. Geneanet User Tree) have suggested Mary and Richard were also the parents of
  1. Mary Jane Elliott (1869-1887).

Mary Jane Elliott, widowed daughter of Thomas Blake and Ann Walsh, married Joseph Thomas Clayton at Molong on 1 February 1882.[3] They had eight children:

  • at least four grandchildren.
